When taking part in sponsored audits offered through our company, efficiency is key. Here you can learn a little more about what you can do before we arrive to make sure things run smoothly. If you have any further questions do not hesitate to reach out.

Our non-negotiables:

  • Appointment changes. If you need to change the day or time of your appointment, or cancel the appointment for any reason, we require a 48 hour notice to be able to guarantee any future availability for your home. This gives us plenty of time to inform our utility partners and make sure you can get your home evaluated.

  • Pets. We all love pets, but they can be one of the biggest disturbances during our work in your home. Please be mindful of your pets and keep all dogs either on a leash or in a kennel. Other animals may not need the same separation, but keep in mind that our auditors will be evaluating all parts of your home and may not notice a particularly sneaky cat or other pet. If you feel like they may exit the home against your desire. Find a way to restrain them somehow.

  • Home access. As stated, to get the full benefit of these programs or any of our work our auditors will need to be in almost every part of the home with few exceptions. As a system, all of your home should be inspected by the TAG auditors to fix as many problems as possible.

  • Wood burning fires. To ensure safety in your home please extinguish all wood fires 24 hours before your appointment.

Other things to take into consideration:

  • Typical areas of work. Unless we have been contracted for specific measures by you, we will need access to all of the home. The areas we will be highly focusing on include: all AC/Heat vents in the home, exterior doors or windows, attic/attic access, the AC/Heat systems themselves (AC Closets, outside condensers), bathrooms and plumbing, hot water source, and the crawl space. While we are able to sort things out when we get there. If you know there are particular issues with accessing these points please take some time prior to make this a little easier of a process if possible.

  • Active utilities. All utilities for the home must be connected and active for your appointment. This includes electricity, water, and gas (if applicable). These are all required in order to complete your home energy audit.

  • People in the home. We implore all members of the household to be inquisitive and involved with your home energy audit. Typically we are only in your home for a few hours for maybe a day or two. No one is going to be more in-tuned with your home than the occupants. While through our initial meeting, scheduling, and audit our team will be able to quickly come to pace, if there are particular issues you're worried about please let us know! Cutting down on evaluation time could mean the difference between quick and lengthy fixes for your home problems. All occupants should also have general awareness of our team and their presences in the home. They will need in each room, so if there is not a direct involvement with the process we typically suggest these members stay in a common area or where there is the most free space from our auditors just to keep us from bumping elbows. This is just a suggestion, our teams are also very well trained to limit their own disturbance to your time and people. Let us know if you have any specific needs such as separation with work from home, calls, etc. We are happy to work within any part of your lifestyle.

  • Access to central conditioning. While we perform your home evaluation and energy audit we will require all central conditioning systems, and any other exhausting appliance to be turned off. This includes dryers, bathroom exhaust fans, and supplementary cooling appliances such as window units. This is due to our pressure testing in the home and is needed to be turned off to accurately gauge your home's leakage. So if your audit is during a particularly hot or cold day, adjust the temperature in your home accordingly prior to the appointment. This could mean potentially lowering the AC temp or increasing the heat for a bit before your appointment to help keep yourself more comfortable. Our auditors will work as quickly as possible to get your home back into performance but if you find yourself more sensitive to temperature change in the home don't skip this step.
