Tax credits and the IRA

The inflation reduction act, also known as the IRA was introduced in 2022 in order to invest in domestic energy production and promote clean energy use. This allows homeowners to claim up to 30% of the material costs associated with weatherization and insulation, including but not limited to: Insulation, HVAC Units, doors, windows, energy audits and more. So, if your home does not qualify for insulation under a program, you paid for it before realizing that it does, or need insulation that is not covered under programs (walls, floors, ducts) then you are eligible to claim 30% of the material costs (up to $1,200 per year by having a valid receipt and by filing form 5695 with the correct information about the work performed on your home. This can be done each year until 2032. Doors have a maximum of $300 per door, and $250 per window. Qualifying HVAC installations can claim up to $2,000. When you schedule paid work with us at TAG Energy Savers we will fill out this form with you after we have completed your work to ensure that you save as much as possible.

These credits allow for efficiency upgrades to reach more homes, and result in significantly faster pay off periods. At TAG Energy Savers this is part of our core belief that these services should be accessible to all homeowners. We will push all economic benefits to come back to those we serve.
